Go Human Research

Here at Go Human we want as many voices and perspectives involved as possible, with that goal in mind we carry out research reviews

Research Review #1

We are excited to share with you the first Go Human Research Review, carried out from July to September 2020. We never set out to write a white paper, rather this review reveals current workplace insights over the lockdown period along with our own Go Human perspectives, what we have learned and what challenges we are still to face in the workplace. We captured detailed thoughts and perspectives from over 140 individuals across a wide range of workplaces and roles.  We wanted to ensure that we moved beyond our own personal echo chambers and, with that in mind, sought responses from a wide range of ages from 18 to 65+.

Humanity at its best

79% of all respondents believed that they had been treated well in the past 6 months – as ‘humans first and employees second’.

‘100% transparent from the start. Even if mistakes were made, hands were held up quickly to show we were all working through a period where we didn’t have all the answers, and we had to be bold in trying something different.’

Human to human to human

67% of the 18-24 age group felt neutral or disagreed that since lockdown they feel more connected to their organisation and its purpose.

‘I feel completely disconnected and very disappointed.’

We are human natured

39% of respondents were neutral or disagreed that they had noticed a more human approach from their manager.

‘We are all imperfect and have had our struggles and some leaders have been more open to share struggles - some are like machines though.’

‘The brick wall presented by lockdown forced me to be more nimble in my thinking in order to find workarounds while keeping my team safe.’

A human conundrum

44% of respondents disagreed that they had been able to maintain their motivation during lockdown.

‘I find it very hard to switch off from work since working from home. That last email or odd job often turns into five hours of work as you are already in the comfort of your own home.’
